Explanatory note for the computer generated Emails

The daily computer generated weather report, will calculate whether weather conditions are good for pickleball/tennis or not. For this purpose, conditions considered for the games are between 40–89 degrees°F, 13 mph windspeed or less and no showers, rain, thunderstorms or hail. Any suggestions are eagerly welcomed. This is a beta system using an experimental weather feed (an API) from NOAA on weather.gov and two modules tied in with each other, the built in HTTP and Gmail, from integromat.com. The feed from weather.gov, unfortunately does not currently include information about humidity. If the weather.gov or integromat services go down, you may receive an error message, the Email with the important stuff left out or no Email for that day.

I am temporarily mailing all the pickleball players and those I know who regularly played tennis before the epidemic. Let me know if you would like to be removed from this daily notification or you would like to be or know someone who like to be added to this list. My understanding is in the past the tennis players, played at 9 AM on Saturday mornings and the current pickleball players would like to reserve Mondays and Thursdays between 2–4 PM. Other days and times presumably are open for reservations/commitments to play, although the pickleballers have of recent been playing many days from Monday through Saturday at 2 PM when the weather permits.

Also note that pickleball players have two portable nets that are now available and also have the knowledge and materials for quickly drawing out courts below the service lines of the tennis courts. So it is even possible though perhaps not highly desirable that tennis and pickleball could be played at the same time.

If you are a planning to play, as a note to all possible players, as a way to bring out more club members (by committing to play at a certain day and time) and to avoid conflicts (i.e. by reserving the courts), it might be good to reply all to this Email message and indicate when you are planning to play, and which game, tennis or pickleball.
